Close up photography is very famous and it simply looks stunning. We know macro lenses are expensive but for the hobbyist it is a good buy. Since I don’t own a macro lens, I was very doubtful if a simple macro filter can do the job of a macro lens. In this scenario i purchased a 50mm macro filter. The details might not be awesome, but it did give some pretty good results. Check out some rough shots on an unplanned day in my garden. Shots were taken without tripod, so it might be shaky!

A sample video taken with the 50mm macro lens attached. Just trying out the manual focusing and defocusing with it and no tripod was used in this testing.

Conclusion? The results for me was good, but I would still purchase a macro lens one day! Recommend getting? Yes i would certainly recommend getting a macro filter since it is cheap and compact and works well with videos. Just don’t forget to use a tripod to achieve the best results!
