SD Cards and Memory Cards are so fragile that a single unwanted occurrence can get it spoiled. Most of the times they get spoiled due to partitioning, wrong formatting, usage in multiple devices and also prematurely removing them from any computer or device. Recently as I was clearing up my storage cards, I tried inserting an already faulty Micro SD card into my PC to format it using MiniTool Partition Wizard, but the application couldn’t even read or see the existance of the card. Just to try, I inserted the card into my Android Phone which automatically detected the card. From that moment, I managed to get around 6 unreadable / corrupted cards working again!

What Is Needed:

  • An Android Device with Memory Card Slot (I used my OnePlus X)
  • The Android version must be above 6.0+

Steps:

Firstly insert the memory card into your phone (or Android Device) and go to ‘Settings’ -> ‘Storage & USB’. From there make sure your card is detected. If it is not detected then it means the card could have internal damage.

Next choose the ‘Memory Card’ and then choose options button and select ‘Format As Portable’. This will make the memory card readable again on other devices.

To be sure, remove the card from your phone/android device and slot it into your Computer to see if it works. You are good if it works.

Note: This post is based on my experience and scenario could change for you. At the same time options or screens may differ on your device. Hence play around until you get it to work.
